Now that I am fully vaccinated and things are opening back up, I am super excited to get back on the road. I realized that even though I lived for 4 years in Michigan, I only made it once across the border to Canada. So I put Canada on my bucket list, but of course I don’t want to just visit all the super touristy places, so I asked a few friends for recommendations. I am definitely putting Calgary on my list to visit and once I come back, I’ll let you all know how it was.

When people think of Canada, they often think of popular cities like Toronto, Ottawa, and Vancouver. Calgary is often overlooked, even though the city has a lot to offer both guests and residents. So if you have found yourself closing on one of the Calgary homes for sale or in the area for a quick business trip, you might be wondering what there is to do in Calgary. Have no fear, as even with the city’s unwarranted lackluster reputation, you’ll still find plenty of great places to visit while in Calgary. Here are some great ways to pass the time while in Calgary.

Glenbow Museum

One of the best places to visit in Calgary is the Glenbow Museum. The museum is unique because it covers both art and history, while most museums are usually only dedicated to one subject. Not only does the museum display a variety of important historical artifacts, but it also displays a collection of great artworks as well. The quality of the museum is top-notch, as the museum’s unique displays make it one of the top museums in the area. Additionally, the museum covers a wide range of topics, meaning they’ll surely have something that you’ll find interesting.

Calgary Zoo

Another fantastic place to visit in Calgary is the city’s local zoo. Calgary Zoo has an extensive collection of animals, meaning you can see all sorts of wildlife when you visit. Rare animals like pandas, tigers, and giraffes call the location home, meaning you might see some animals you’ve never seen before. Additionally, some more common animals like bears and moose call the location home, but they’re still a treat to see. If that’s not enough for you, the zoo also has an extensive botanical garden, allowing you to see plants and flowers from all over the world. If you’re an animal or nature lover, then you absolutely have to check out the Calgary Zoo.

Prince’s Island Park

When in the city, it’s not uncommon to feel overly crowded and cramped. Thankfully in Calgary, there’s Prince’s Island Park for people to escape to. Prince’s Island Park is a great outdoor area that’s lined with some great views. Not only are these trails great for walking, but they’re also perfect for cyclers as well. In many cities, it’s almost impossible to get to a great natural area without driving for a good distance. However, Prince’s Island Park offers all the outdoor freedom you could ever want.

Calgary Tower

An iconic part of the Calgary skyline is the Calgary Tower. The structure used to be the tallest building in the city, and many people still consider it as the city’s center point. However, Calgary Tower is much more than just a piece of the city’s skyline, as it’s actually a great place to visit as well. Traveling to the tower’s observation deck offers a beautiful view of the city and is the best view that you’ll find in the area. Not only can you see the entirety of Calgary, but you can also see the gorgeous mountains off in the distance. If you want to visit an iconic part of the city and see amazing sights, then you absolutely have to visit Calgary Tower.
